Revenge of the Top 100 Movie Lists

Well, I finally managed to come up with my own Top 100 Movies list. Many are not really Top 100 material, I suppose, but my movie viewing has been limited compared to the rest of you, and a lot that I have seen were so long ago I don't remember much about them. (The whole list of movies that I can ever remember seeing at all is only 165 entries long.) Maybe I should have gone for a more modest Top 50 like Kathy L. did. But the deed is done, so here's my hundred; I'll undoubtedly be kicking some out as I watch more new ones. The ranking of the bottom 40 is kinda nebulous, as I find it difficult to compare 40 so-so apples, oranges, peaches, and bananas in any meaningful way. You can consider it more or less a 40-way tie for 61st place.

You certainly like your sci-fi! Only seen 165 movies? Isn't that like one a year? (Ducks, runs for cover, etc.) :)

More like three a year, wiseass. :-) Except I don't think I saw too many movies before I was, oh, 8 or so?

I've never been much of a movie-goer, probably because most of my years growing up there was no theater in my small town. Although believe it or not there actually was a movie theater open there for a few years -- I must have been around 10-12. I remember seeing The Wizard of Oz there (and no, it was not first run!), but no recollection of any other specific movies.

After it closed and was torn down for a parking lot, the closest movie theater would have been 10 miles away, and it was a rare treat to be able to go to a movie. So I pretty much never developed the habit. You young whippersnappers grew up with cineplexes all over the place and ample opportunity to see movies whenever you wanted to.

I know there were more movies that I have seen at one time or another, but either they were so long ago I've forgotten them completely, or I have such a dim recollection that it wasn't worth putting on my preliminary list; after all, if I don't remember anything about it, it's hardly going to be in my top 100. :)
