Small gardening successes?

[Knock on wood.] It looks like that hydrangea I finally got around to planting is doing okay; it appears to have two more blossom clusters forming. Considering my fairly dismal track record with plants, I'm really surprised. The azaleas are doing all right, too, though I'm expecting only one of them to bloom this summer -- it's a reblooming Encore azalea. We'll see.

I'm still bemused by these pansies. By all rights they should haved curled up and died by now from the heat, especially considering that the planting area is bounded by a concrete driveway and front walk. That oughta cook them if anything would. Yet they're perky as ever. Go figure.
