Doesn't have to be paradise

... to get paved for a parking lot.

This birdseye view (courtesy of Microsoft's local.live.com) of my office building -- the one on the right -- shows the nice stand of trees that used to be behind the building's back parking lot, providing welcome shade for part of the day for cars parked along the back edge. The key phrase there being "used to be".


Because here's what it looks like beyond that parking lot now. They came in and clearcut it a few weeks ago, to make way for additional parking for a new building that's going to go up on that wedge of land between the two buildings in the aerial view.


I miss the trees.
