Browsing restored
No, this doesn't have anything to do with Firefox or Safari; I'm talking about a more old-fashioned kind of browsing.
I didn't realize just how much I relied on browsing at the Kempsville library branch to run across interesting books, until the branch closed for renovations last December. Since then they've been running an "express" office, to pick up holds and return books, tucked in the corner of the city clerk's office in the back of the Fairfield Shopping Center. but if you wanted to browse you had to go to one of the other branches or the Central Library. And since none of them are even remotely convenient for me (or have a halfway decent selection, except for Central), I've been essentially restricted to borrowing things that I specifically knew about and could search for online. And I found I really missed the serendipitous finds resulting from just perusing the shelves.
But the wait is finally over. After a nine-and-a-half-month gestation, the renovated branch was to be reborn today. I haven't been there yet – probably won't go until one of the paltry two items I currently have checked out needs to be returned – but it's good to know I can resume my browsing activities at last.
