The fountain
A while back, Kathy blogged about a certain vase and what it represented to her about the way life changed for many of us last year. I commented that my "vase" was a copper and slate wall fountain that I bought for half price at Crate & Barrel a couple of weeks before Black Monday, which was still sitting in pieces on my living room floor a year and a half later.
No more! Today I took down the picture that's been hanging where the fountain was to go, dusted off the assembly instructions (literally), fired up my trusty cordless drill, mounted the backplate to the wall, and put the fountain together. It's running now, merrily trickling away and looking lovely. I'm a sucker for anything copper, and the slate is a beautiful mix of slate-y colors that sets off the copper perfectly. I'm not sure the picture does it justice, but maybe it'll give you an idea why it stayed on my mental wish list for over a year until it finally went on clearance.
It's going to take some time to get used to its presence there, next to the doorway into the kitchen, but eventually I will, I'm sure. And like Kathy with her vase, I doubt that I'll ever forget why it took so long for me to put it to use.

It's pretty! I hope you can enjoy it.
Very artsy. You should hang a rope in front of it so the pleebs can't touch it when they visit. :)
