Say, for example, meetings where one decides one has to lay off one's employees, and which are to fall victim.

Actually... snarky and fun as that comment might have been, the truth is, all the track had been inescapably laid for everything that happened this year at The Company quite some time ago. Nothing could have been done this January to avert the subsequent two rounds (and counting) of layoffs.

But obviously the heads of said Company didn't learn from their past mistakes or other similar company's mistakes before the layoffs occurred.
